Business Environment 1 - Essay Example At this juncture, strategic management is the only way in which a company can grow in the long run in this competitive field. The decisions should be undertaken by the firms only after analyzing the changes and conditions in the external business environment. It is true that without the help of efficient strategies, the firms cannot frame ways for further business development (Johnson and Scholes, 1993). This paper will explain the ways in which adoption of new strategies in the business of Oman Oil Company can help in mobilizing new resources and augmenting the overall level of its performance in the market. New strategies adopted in a firm would help it to improve its resource allocations, thereby reducing its cost of operations. It would facilitate the enhancement of the brand value of the company and improve its relations with its stakeholders. New innovations and creativities providing competitive advantages to the firm can also be introduced through implementation of new busine ss strategies. All of these advantages would help to forecast directions and also, increase the scope of business for an organization (Oxford Business Group, 2008). Formation of Strategies in the Company The business strategies of the company have helped in generating competitive advantages in the market. ... The mid-year rises in the prices of oil have significantly helped in the economic growth of Oman from 1999. The country had associated with the World Trade Organization in 2000 and since then, it has been promoting privatization in the economy. The Oman Oil Company has taken his opportunity to increase its business revenue and utilize the accumulated finances in various types of new private investment projects (making equity investments in new private companies). When the demand for oil in the world market had been increasing, the company had actively augmented its resources in business and expanded its scale of operations. The country of Oman also has plenty of natural oil reserves, thereby making extracting and producing oil more convenient. Any company engaging in the production of oil would not need to outsource it from any other economy. Thus, considering the external environment, the company has correctly selected its business investment segment. Competitive Advantages due to t he Strategies The competitive advantages gained by the company are the special features of its business that makes it unique in the whole market. Oman Oil Company with its effective business strategies has become successful in providing a greater value to the customers in the market. It is true that the price of different forms of energy manufactured by the company is high as their levels are regulated by the free forces of the market equilibrium (Porter, 1998). However, the higher prices are justified when the different beneficial services of the company are recognized (Hitt, Ireland and Hoskisson, 2009). Motivation - Essay Example Like other doctorate students, I joined the Walden University to pursue a doctorate in Business Administration-Healthcare Management. After my undergraduate studies, I thought that I had obtained all the knowledge that I needed to survive in the real world. However, I later realized that a single degree was not sufficient for me to handle the emerging and dynamic challenges of life. I realized that there were many concepts that were unfamiliar to me, and my desire for continued physical and intellectual stimulation was still hot in my mind. Further, there was a strong need to push myself beyond the limits by breaking through the challenges of doctorate education, and strengthen my coping capacities because education can become frustrating at times. According to Mujtaba et al. (2006), the comprehensive dissertation process and the complex exams are the climax of doctorate degrees. They consume a substantial amount of a studentââ¬â¢s time and resources before successful completion. Doctorate studies increase the job potential of an individualà by orienting a student to research of high education, and business language and vocabularies (Mujtaba et al., 2006). Business administration course is a comprehensive field, which has many vocabularies and conceptual language that only experts can understand. Healthcare management is another complex field that requires people who are highly trained and competent professionals to run the activities in this field. My chief motivation for pursuing a doctorate in this field was the increasing demand for effective management of healthcare resources. This will ensure that citizens of this nation receive high quality health services, which will facilitate a decrease in the number of deaths caused by poor management. During the course of my study, I expect to gain sufficient insights into administrative concept like strategic planning, strategic production, distribution and

Good Practices in independent consultancy Essay
Good Practices in independent consultancy - Essay Example A good working knowledge of the industry is also critical for the consultant, as well as a proven track record of past successes with previous clients. For this, the consultant must be updated on current trends and forecasts in the industry. Although this report focuses on my own field of expertise, you will see that the practices and ethics apply to all forms of consultancy and are based upon good human relations, the wherewithal to analyze accurately, expediency and prompt delivery of results. It is also imperative respond to reasonable client contacts promptly. I was contacted by the owner of CafAntonio, a popular small restaurant in Tor Quay, Devon. Over the phone, he told me that he was very concerned about the amount of increase in his expenditures due to high fuel prices and an increase in dairy prices. He didn't see how he could avoid raising prices and wished to explore other options. In the initial contact we discussed my skills, background and fees. Upon his verbal agreement to my fee (Caldwell, Mark), I made an appointment to visit the establishment the following afternoon at 14.30. The site was visited on 13 June 2005 at 14.30. The owner was interviewed about his bookkeeping practices as well as his menu content, staff, and equipment. He provided his records for the previous year as well as the current year. The site was then toured to observe the work of staff, food preparation and disposal, and current inventory of food, beverages, place settings, serviettes and non-perishables. The owner was questioned regarding utilization of extra portions and unused perishable ingredients, as well as an estimation of average daily sales. The owner was asked for and provided inventory records for a

Problems with morden life Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Problems with morden life - Essay Example But modern science and technologies have made life the easiest ever. After man learned to travel fast from place to place within hours, during the present age of Information, they invented the Internet to communicate with others within seconds. All of these invented science and technologies have helped human beings to make their lives comfortable a lot. Now, human life has become more modern. Although, modern life may be convenient, it has negative sides too. The more life becomes easier and comfortable, the more man becomes idle. As a result, idle hours in modern life have caused serious damages the health of modern people. In our industrially developed corporate culture, we, the office-goers, canââ¬â¢t get enough exercise in modern life, because of sedentary jobs, cars and too many machines. As we know, sedentary jobs make people sit in the office andwork all day; they canââ¬â¢t do any exercise on their chairs. If people sit on a chair for a long time without any movement, their back may hurt and theirspinemay curve. It is really harmful for their bodies. Again the car is one of the great inventions in human civilization. It has changed humansââ¬â¢ lifestyle a lot. But, not all things that the car brings to us are good. One bad point is that people exercise less. In the past, when only wealthy people could buy a car, the commoners walked or rode bikes to go somewhere. Both of them are good exercise for people. But when cars become easily accessible to common people, they lose the chance to ride bicycles and also to walk. Thus, people became lazy and started to drive cars anytime instead of wa lking and riding bikes. The last thing that causespeople to get less exercise is too many machines of convenience.People need not only big movement but also small movement. Small movement is like using scissors to cut paper. It helps people to exercise their small muscles and sometimes it is important in preventing arthritis. However, when some machines of convenience

Social contract theory Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Social contract theory - Essay Example Therefore in a political sense, the State is the representation of the means by which a group of individuals relate to each other out of the common will to live with other human beings in the community. Hegel views the State as the agent of true freedom for the individual. The basis of self consciousness in an individual, according to Hegel, lies not in his active thinking actions but in the active desires existing within the individual which are in negation. Hegel views self consciousness as desire and he believes that self consciousness can exist only through sublation in a referent other. The certainty of self and individual existence may be obtained through the gratification of the individualââ¬â¢s desires, however these are conditioned by the other; certainty exists only through the cancellation of the other, therefore if a cancellation of the desire is to be effected, there must be the other. (Hegel, 1967). Therefore Hegel does not view the individual a splaying a significant role in politics, except as a part of an institution, i.e, the State. The State is the form of inward self-expression of the people in an objective form. The validation of the individual would exist only in the form of recognition attained from others. For example, where individual ownership of property is concerned, such a property would belong to the person only to the extent that it is recognized by others, i.e, by the State. Being thus recognized by others symbolizes the individualââ¬â¢s struggle for recognition. The State in effect represents the subjective will of a collective group of people. Applying Hegelââ¬â¢s views, an individualââ¬â¢s nature is governed by desire and his self consciousness expresses itself in the form of the gratification of desires. However, according to Hegel, such gratification of desires can occur only in the context of some referent other, i.e, individual recognition is dependent upon recognition by others. In
